Scientific and technological support to the dossier

Health and nutritional claims are an important opportunity for the food industry for positioning the own products and for developing new markets. Since July 1st, 2007, the day of the enforcement of the European regulation on Health Claims 1924/2006, all players belonging to the European Union have to comply with specific requirements for the use of nutritional and health claims.

With this regulation, the European Union intends to support the scientific value of the health claims written on the product labels, by permitting only those claims that are substantiated with scientific evidence, according to general and specific requests posed by the regulation, and that are included in a positive list.

Tecnoalimenti developed the due skills in the scientific as well as in the procedures for the preparation, submission and follow-up of the health claims application to EFSA (European Food Safety Agency).
