OPEN DEI – Aligning Reference Architectures, Open Platforms and Large-Scale Pilots in Digitising European Industry

The digital transformation is a priority for the European Union. “The DEI strategy has to continue to ensure reinforcing the EU’s competitiveness in digital technologies so that any industry in Europe, big or small, wherever situated and in any sector can fully benefit from digital innovations to upgrade its products, improve its processes and adapt its business models to the digital change” (Mariya Gabriel, former Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society).

As part of the Horizon 2020 programme, the OPEN DEI project intends to enable an innovation and collaboration Ecosystem among the Large Scale Projects financed under Horizon 2020 ICT Calls for opening discussions focused on “Platforms and Pilots” and support their implementation in four basic industrial domains: manufacturing, agriculture, energy, healthcare.

OPEN DEI aims to compare reference architectures and open source reference implementations, enabling a unified industrial data platform, suggesting a digital maturity model for Large Scale Pilots, creating a set of assessment methods and a migration journey benchmarking tool, supporting them on standardisation issues.
